Westlake, Suteki, and Kengo Kuma: an Award-Winning Collaboration

Honoring Japanese Architecture in Oregon

Mr. Yoichiro Hirata of Nice Holding and Gerald Rowlett of Westlake Development

Westlake works with renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma & Associates to produce a world class Japanese-American home.

Westlake is honored to be endorsed by world renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. We had the pleasure of collaborating with Kengo Kuma, Balazs Bognar, and many other architects and designers to create a Japanese-American home for the Northwest Natural 2017 Street of Dreams.

Bognar was integral during the build serving as our chief architect and main contact while Yoichiro Hirata served as Chairman of the Board at Nice Holding. Nice’s line of SUTEKI homes are environmentally sustainable and designed for safety during earthquakes.

The Suteki House — symbolizing a philosophy of excellence displays a fusion of Japanese principals and American living. These combined efforts made our vision a reality. We at Westlake are very grateful for the experience and we enjoy investing in new collaborations to create the best homes possible.
